Mark National Yoga Month in Philly with Doggy Yoga
11th September 2021Yoga pose downward dog takes on a whole new meaning at the Bourse Food Hall this month.
September is National Yoga Month, and the Old City dining and entertainment complex, three miles from your The Victor apartment, is celebrating with a yoga event that is sure to have tongues wagging. On Sept. 12, the Bourse is hosting outdoor yoga in partnership with Morris Animal Refuge, which will bring along adoptable pups to partake in the festivities.
The Doggy Yoga event will feature two sessions: 11 a.m.-noon and 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m., with class sizes limited to 25 at each. The yoga sessions will be led by local experts, who will tailor the class to students of all yoga experiences and abilities. So, whether yoga is a part of your daily or weekly routine or you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time, you’re welcome to enjoy the fun.
And if you are an experienced yogi, this likely won’t be anything like the classes you’ve taken! As participants move through their flows, they’ll be joined on the Bourse patio by scores of dogs, who will roam freely through the mats—adding a bit of distraction but a lot of adorableness to the session.
All animals will be up for adoption through Morris Animal Refuge, the nation’s oldest animal rescue organization. The South Philadelphia shelter has cared for hundreds of thousands of animals over the last 140 years, rescuing and finding homes for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and much more. Even if you have a pup of your own at your The Victor apartment, you can spend time at Doggy Yoga learning about the work of Morris Animal Refuge and how you can support their lifesaving efforts.
Puppies are provided but participants are asked to bring their own mat.
